Boeing Wins Major Order from Turkish Airlines for 737 MAX Planes

Boeing has finalized an order for 100 737 MAX 8 aircraft from Turkish Airlines, marking another significant milestone for the 737 MAX series. This deal, which began last year, was nearly derailed over concerns about the cost of the LEAP-1B turbofan engines and maintenance program.

The agreement includes options to purchase up to 50 additional planes and substitute the larger 737 MAX 10 version. The list price for a single 737 MAX 8 is approximately $121.6 million, but airlines typically receive discounts of up to 50% off this cost.

Turkish Airlines operates a diverse fleet that includes both Boeing and Airbus aircraft, with over 200 Boeing planes already in service. This new order is part of the airline's continued expansion efforts, which aim to support its extensive network from its Istanbul hub.
