Boeing Wins Massive Contract to Build Next-Gen Fighter Jet for US Navy
Boeing has been awarded a massive contract from the US Navy to produce the next-generation F/A-XX aircraft, a sixth-generation fighter jet that will revolutionize advancements in open mission systems architecture and advanced mission systems. The contract is valued at billions of dollars.
The F/A-XX is intended to replace the service's fleet of F/A-18 Super Hornets, with construction already underway on Boeing's secure manufacturing facility in St. Louis. This facility is planned as part of Boeing's digital aerospace design and manufacturing system.
Boeing has previously been awarded contracts for sixth-generation fighter work, including the US Air Force's F-47 program in 2025. According to Steve Parker, president and chief executive officer of Boeing Defense, Space & Security, 'It's an honor to be selected to produce the Navy's first sixth-generation platform.'
Boeing is investing heavily in technology and people to deliver this critical program, with a focus on building multiple concurrent future combat aircraft franchise programs.
