Boeing Wins Multi-Billion-Dollar Contract for F/A-XX Sixth-Generation Fighter
The US Navy has awarded Boeing a multi-billion-dollar contract to produce its F/A-XX aircraft, a sixth-generation fighter that will replace the service's fleet of F/A-18 Super Hornets. The new plane is expected to revolutionize advancements in open mission systems architecture, advanced mission systems, and operational reach and capacity.
Boeing's president and chief executive officer, Steve Parker, said it was an honor to be selected for the program. He emphasized that the company had invested decades of work, game-changing innovations, and solidified its position with new facilities uniquely suited to build multiple products with next-generation capabilities.
The contract is Boeing's second selection for sixth-generation fighter work following the award of the US Air Force's F-47 programme in 2025. Parker stated that delivering two advanced fighters in parallel was always their plan, and they invested accordingly.
