Boeing Wins U.S. Navy Contract for Next-Generation F/A-XX Fighter Jet
The U.S. Navy has awarded Boeing a multi-billion-dollar contract to build the F/A-XX aircraft, a next-generation fighter jet designed to replace the F/A-18 Super Hornets. The new platform is expected to bring significant advancements in open mission systems architecture, advanced mission systems, and operational reach and capacity. Steve Parker, president and CEO of Boeing Defense, Space & Security, expressed pride in the selection, highlighting the company's decades of experience and recent investments in cutting-edge facilities and technology.
The F/A-XX represents Boeing's second selection for sixth-generation fighter work, following the U.S. Air Force's F-47 program in 2025. Construction is underway on Boeing's secure manufacturing facility in St. Louis, which will be part of the world's most advanced aerospace design and manufacturing system. Parker emphasized that the company's investments extend beyond facilities to include technology and workforce development to meet customer needs.
The technical and programmatic details of the F/A-XX remain classified under U.S. national security and export laws, ensuring the confidentiality of the project's specifics.
