Boeing Workers Save Lives as Flydubai Plane Survives Catastrophic Dive
A recent incident involving Flydubai Flight 1073 has highlighted the bravery and quick thinking of passengers and crew members. The plane, a Boeing 737 MAX, was headed from Dubai to Tel Aviv when the co-pilot allegedly stabbed the captain and attempted to crash the aircraft.
The flight data recorder is still missing, but aviation analyst John Nance believes that the plane may have hit or exceeded the speed of sound during its dive. He notes that such speeds can be catastrophic for swept-wing jets like the 737 MAX.
Miraculously, passengers and crew members managed to break into the cockpit and subdue the co-pilot. Two off-duty pilots in the back of the plane took control and landed the aircraft safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.
Nance praises the Boeing workers who built the 737 MAX, saying that they 'overbuild' their planes and that this particular aircraft may never fly again. He notes that the odds of dying in a car crash are much higher than those of airline passengers.
