Boeing's China Jet Deal Hits Turbulence

Boeing's hopes for a major order from China are in jeopardy due to disputes over engine access and maintenance support. The US manufacturer had committed to supplying up to 200 jets, but analysts say this number may shrink to 150 or fewer. Beijing is seeking guaranteed access to US spare parts and maintenance, which has stalled talks.

The commitment was made in May, and only about 140 orders are currently stable, with ten pending finalization. The 737 MAX is expected to dominate any potential order, although no specific models were mentioned.

Boeing's struggles in China date back nearly a decade, during which Airbus gained significant ground. Political tensions continue to complicate deals, and it's unlikely that new large orders will be announced during this week's summit.
