Boeing's China Mega-Order Hopes Fade Ahead of Trump-Xi Summit

Boeing's hopes of securing a massive aircraft order from China have begun to fade ahead of this week's summit between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The company had been eyeing a deal for up to 500 jets, but sources close to the matter say it is now unlikely. Even a smaller commitment of 200 aircraft, announced in May, hangs in the balance due to a dispute over engines, spare parts, and maintenance support.

A scaled-down version of this order could see Boeing receive just 150 planes or fewer, according to analysts. If Boeing can save this deal, it would represent a significant victory for the planemaker.
