Boeing's Discounted Valuation Presents a Compelling Investment Opportunity
Boeing's valuation is at a discount compared to its peers in the aerospace sector. This discount has been present since 2028 and could make Boeing an attractive investment opportunity for value-oriented investors.
The company's recent management actions are addressing operational and supply chain issues, such as ramping up production of the 737 MAX from 30 airplanes per month to 47, with a target of 52 soon. CEO Kelly Ortberg is working to improve the company's execution on its massive backlog of over 6,200 airplanes worth $597 billion.
The acquisition of Spirit AeroSystems in December 2025 has derisked Boeing's supply chain for fuselages and other components. Additionally, the company is making progress in addressing issues at its defense arm, Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), which is expected to return to profitability in 2026.
However, there are still concerns about Boeing's ability to execute on its backlog and convince investors that its worst days are behind it. Nevertheless, the signs of progress under Ortberg's leadership make a strong case for Boeing as a value buy right now.
