Boeing's New 737 Max 7 Jetliner Clears FAA Certification
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has finally cleared Boeing's new 737 Max 7 jetliner for commercial service. The certification comes after nearly a decade of development and multiple delays, including years of safety and quality issues.
The FAA said it required Boeing to make several safety changes, including updating flight-control software, improving cockpit alerts for pilots, and redesigning the engine anti-ice system to prevent overheating.
The certification is a major milestone for Boeing's 737 family, which has been at the center of its troubles. The FAA overhauled how it certifies Boeing aircraft following two crashes involving the larger Max 8 that killed 346 people in 2018 and 2019.
