Boeing's Spirit Reintegration Costs Soar Amid Contract Issues
Boeing's reintegration of Spirit AeroSystems has been marred by financial challenges. The acquisition, which closed in January 2024 for $4.7 billion in stock, was initially expected to cost Boeing $8.4 billion. However, additional liabilities have since pushed the total cost to $10.3 billion.
The increased costs are attributed to questionable contracts signed between Boeing and Spirit prior to the reintegration effort. The Wall Street Journal reports that these contracts are responsible for the higher expenses.
