Boeing's Starliner Delayed Until 2028 Amid Ongoing Technical Issues

Boeing's Starliner spacecraft will not be ready to fly astronauts until 2028, NASA and Boeing announced on September 28, 2026. This is two years after the spacecraft landed in the New Mexico desert without Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams aboard.

An uncrewed flight test is expected no sooner than the end of this year, but another year or more will be needed to evaluate those results before putting people on board.

NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman said that both agencies remain committed to Starliner despite persistent problems since its first test flight in 2019. He emphasized that NASA wants two commercial crew systems and is working closely with Boeing to address the issues identified on previous Starliner flights.
