Boeing's Starliner Gets New Funding, NASA Aims for 2028 Astronaut Launch
NASA is investing additional resources and funds into Boeing's Starliner capsule to rectify its issues and get it flying again as soon as possible. The Starliner had faced numerous problems in 2024, leading to its test pilots being stuck at the International Space Station for nearly a year.
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman announced that Boeing should be ready to launch a new and improved Starliner by December, carrying cargo but no crew. Astronauts will not strap in until 2028 due to further safety redesigns that will take months or even years to complete.
Manager Dana Weigel emphasized the need for everyone to be confident that all of Starliner's problems have been resolved before putting astronauts back on board.
