Bond Market Selloff Could Test Equities Resilience

Goldman Sachs' chief global equity strategist, Peter Oppenheimer, is warning investors about potential stock market volatility. Strong earnings have so far kept equities stable, but Oppenheimer believes a sharp selloff in bond markets could quickly undermine that resilience.

In a recent Bloomberg Television interview, Oppenheimer noted that healthy profits have provided some cushion by reducing stock valuations this year. However, he emphasized that the real issue is whether we get a further sharp selloff in bond markets from here.

According to Oppenheimer, if bond market declines accelerate, equities become vulnerable. He stated, 'The real issue is whether we get a further sharp selloff in bond markets from here, and in that context, I think equities become vulnerable.'
