BoomCloud 360 Takes Aim at Samsung, Apple, and Google with Spatial Audio Patent Dispute

A patent dispute is brewing in the US involving tech giants Samsung, Apple, and Google. The US International Trade Commission (USITC) has opened an investigation into these companies over allegations that they infringe on three patents held by BoomCloud 360, a California-based audio technology company.

The complaint centers around spatial audio processing, which is used in various devices such as earbuds and TVs. The three patents in question cover features like gain adjustment for spatial and non-spatial audio components, compensation for asymmetries between speakers, and crosstalk processing with corrections for spectral defects.

BoomCloud 360 is seeking a Limited Exclusion Order from the USITC, which could block the import and sale of affected devices in the US. This order would be significant, considering the companies involved are among the biggest consumer technology companies in the world.
