Boston Dynamics Hires Amazon Executive as New CEO

Boston Dynamics has named Rohit Prasad, a former executive from Amazon.com Inc., as its new chief executive officer. Prasad will guide the company, which is majority-owned by Hyundai Motor Co., through its next phase of innovation and commercialization of advanced robots.

Boston Dynamics is renowned for its development of agile humanoid robots. The company is currently focused on creating robotic systems designed for industrial and real-world environments, a domain referred to as physical AI.

Hyundai, which took control of Boston Dynamics in 2021, revealed earlier this year plans to deploy the company's Atlas robot at its Georgia plant starting in 2028. The goal is to scale production to as many as 30,000 humanoid robots annually.
