Branford Resident Aldo Rascati Passes Away at 92
Aldo Rascati, a longtime resident of Branford, Connecticut, passed away on October 4, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on January 27, 1934, in New Haven, Aldo spent his early years in the Morris Cove section and graduated from Wilbur Cross High School in 1951. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1953, where he played the trumpet for the Navy Band.
Aldo met his future wife, Joan Casella, in Brooklyn, New York, and they married in 1958. He worked for Sherwin-Williams for 23 years before opening his own business, Decorating Unlimited, in Milford, Connecticut. Aldo was an active member of the Milford Rotary Club for over 50 years and a member of the Home Builders Association.
Throughout his life, Aldo was known for his musical talents, playing the trumpet in various weddings and bands. He also had a passion for building and repairing violins. Aldo is survived by his three children, Ronald Rascati, Catherine Rascati (Doug Payne), and Richard Rascati (Jamie Cote), as well as a sister, Concetta Frase (Lawrence), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan (Casella) Rascati, who passed away in 2024, among other family members.
Aldo's funeral service will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 4 to 6 PM at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home in East Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, October 10, at 10 AM at St. John Bosco Parish in Branford, followed by a burial at St. Agnes Cemetery.
