Brighton Annihilate Aston Villa in Premier League Opener
Brighton's Premier League campaign got off to a flying start as they dominated Aston Villa 4-0 at the American Express Community Stadium on Sunday.
The home team took just eight minutes to break the deadlock, with Maxim De Cuyper forcing an own goal from Victor Lindelof after receiving a through ball from Pau Torres's blind pass into his own box.
Villa had made a promising start, but Brighton soon doubled their lead when Georginio Rutter made a well-timed run to get behind the Villa defense, with De Cuyper tapping in the cross from six yards out.
The Seagulls were 3-0 up by the half-hour mark after Jack Hinshelwood tapped in from close range following De Cuyper's cross from the left was knocked back across the goal by Diego Gomez.
