Broadcom's AI Boom Falters as Nvidia Continues to Thrive
Broadcom and Nvidia are trading differently as they approach the next leg of the AI cycle. Broadcom's stock price has dropped to $357.16, down 28% from its June high of $495. In contrast, Nvidia is only about 3% below its 52-week high of $236.54.
Broadcom's AI semiconductor revenue reached $16.7 billion in the latest quarter, a 221% year-over-year increase. However, the company's guidance for next-quarter AI revenue is lower than expected at $21.7 billion. This has raised concerns about Broadcom's growth prospects and its ability to maintain its market share.
The competition in the custom AI accelerators market is becoming more intense, with rising ASIC penetration threatening Broadcom's dominance. The company's forward growth is also exposed to a handful of frontier labs, including Anthropic and OpenAI, which are expected to represent 15GW of Broadcom's 20GW FY28 demand.
