Brookfield Joins Nvidia in $500-Billion AI Infrastructure Financing Push
Brookfield Corp., the parent company of Brookfield Asset Management Ltd., is partnering with Nvidia Corp. and other Wall Street financial giants to raise up to US$500-billion to finance the purchase of chips needed for artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.
The partnership aims to create affordable ways to borrow and support the sector's continued expansion, which has raised concerns about an investment bubble forming due to the breakneck pace of construction of new data centres and AI infrastructure.
Brookfield Corp.'s chief financial officer, Nick Goodman, said that 'compute is the critical part of the infra stack supporting AI' and that finding efficient ways to finance equipment is becoming increasingly important.
The company mitigates risks by signing contracts with established companies that promise cash flows, and by dealing with customers that are less likely to default on loans. Goodman also stated that Brookfield can invest in this sector while maintaining its risk controls and earning attractive returns.
