Buffett's Apple Bet Pays Off: Berkshire Hathaway's Massive Stake
Warren Buffett made Apple Berkshire Hathaway's single largest stock position in recent years, with the company's stake accounting for 20% of the conglomerate's roughly $360 billion stock portfolio.
Buffett reportedly first became interested in Apple in 2016 after seeing how distraught one of his close friends was when he thought he had lost his iPhone. Over the next several years, Buffett accumulated a massive position in the company, making it Berkshire Hathaway's top equity holding at one point.
Apple has proven to be a terrific investment over the past decade, with its strong brand and shareholder-friendly management appealing to Buffett.
If an investor had bought $10,000 worth of Apple shares 10 years ago, their stake, with dividends reinvested, would now be worth roughly $122,400 today.
