Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Rakes In Over $1.4B in Annual Dividends From Key Holdings
Warren Buffett's legacy continues to influence Berkshire Hathaway's portfolio, even though he is no longer CEO. As executive chair, Buffett has left a lasting impact on the company's stock holdings, including Coca-Cola and Chevron.
Berkshire Hathaway initiated positions in these stocks under Buffett's leadership, and they have remained in the portfolio for decades. The two stakes alone earn the company roughly $1.44 billion in combined annual dividends. Coca-Cola is the longest-held stock position, with Berkshire buying 400 million shares in the early 1990s.
Coca-Cola has adapted to changing consumer preferences by expanding its beverage lineup and adopting a less capital-intensive model. The company has proven to be one of the most durable dividend stocks in the market, increasing its dividend annually for 64 consecutive years. Berkshire will collect $842.5 million in dividends from Coca-Cola this year.
Chevron is another significant holding, with Berkshire buying shares in 2020. Although the company sold 35% of its Chevron shares in the first quarter of this year, it still owns an $18 billion stake. Chevron benefits from higher gas prices and has increased its oil production in Venezuela.
