Buffett's Berkshire Holds Half Its Portfolio in Just Three Stocks
Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway has filed its latest 13F for the quarter ended June 30, revealing that three consumer giants make up nearly half of its disclosed stock portfolio. Apple (AAPL), American Express (AXP), and Coca-Cola (KO) are the top holdings, with Apple taking up 22.04%, American Express at 17.14%, and Coca-Cola at 10.86%.
Apple's position has grown due to its strong financials, including a price-to-earnings ratio of 42 and return on equity (ROE) of 171.4%. The company has also seen revenue growth, with $109.42 billion in the June quarter, up 16.4% year-over-year.
Berkshire's holding period for these stocks is significant, with Coca-Cola being unchanged since 1988 and American Express being a core position since the 1990s. This concentration of holdings is characteristic of Buffett's approach to investing, focusing on quality businesses with pricing power that can withstand inflation and recessions.
