Burford Capital Stands to Gain $1.4 Billion from Apple Patent Case

Burford Capital, an investment company, could potentially receive $1.4 billion from a patent case involving Apple (AAPL). A federal jury awarded $5.7 billion in damages to the plaintiff in the case.

The verdict gave Burford Capital a potential entitlement of about $1.4 billion, which sent its shares soaring by over 12% at one point on Monday. This is the company's biggest intraday gain since late March.
