Burger King has been gaining ground on its long-time rival McDonald's in terms of same-store sales growth, according to recent earnings reports.

Restaurant Brands International, the parent company of Burger King, posted an 8.3% increase in same-store sales for Q2, marking its fifth consecutive quarterly gain.

This puts it ahead of Wendy's, which has seen six straight quarters of declining same-store sales and a 27% drop in stock value over the past year.

McDonald's, on the other hand, saw only a 1.3% increase in comparable store sales for the quarter, leaving room for Burger King to continue its growth momentum.
