Burry Boosts Bearish Bets on Nvidia, Expands GameStop Position
Contrarian investor Michael Burry has added to his bearish position on Nvidia Corp. (NVDA), buying January 2027 puts at a strike price of $115. He also revealed expanded positions in GameStop Corp. (GME) and Chinese companies JD.com Inc. (JD) and Alibaba Group Holding (BABA).
Burry, best known for betting against the U.S. housing market before the 2008 financial crisis, stated that he considered shorting Nvidia outright but decided to buy puts instead to limit maximum loss and time decay.
Wall Street analysts are more bullish on Nvidia, with 57 out of 60 analysts covering the stock having a rating of 'Buy' or higher. However, Burry remains skeptical about the company's dependence on hyperscaler spending and its inventory problems in the current AI buildout.
