Burry Turns More Bearish on AI With New 2027 Put Bets
Famed investor Michael Burry has shifted his focus to betting against AI-related companies, replacing short positions with put options that extend into 2027. According to TradingView, Burry closed short positions in Micron Technology (MU), Nebius Group (NBIS), Caterpillar (CAT), the iShares Semiconductor ETF (SOXX), CoreWeave (CRWV), Nvidia (NVDA), and Palantir Technologies (PLTR).
The majority of these were replaced with longer-dated puts, with Oracle (ORCL) shifted to December 2027 puts and a new bearish position opened in MetLife (MET) through long-term options. CoreWeave remained uncovered due to unsuitable put prices.
Burry's repositioning partly reflects tax-loss harvesting, but his weekend research accelerated his timeline for an AI bubble break. Burry pointed out that Anthropic's reported 2025 revenue of nearly $4.6 billion came alongside heavy infrastructure spending and a large accounting-related loss, highlighting the sector's capital demands.
Burry's actions signal growing concerns about the AI industry's sustainability and potential future downturns.
