Burry Warns Palantir, Nvidia Face 'Future Ghost Town' Fate

Financial analyst and investor Michael Burry has made a provocative prediction about two tech giants in a recent discussion. According to him, current market conditions are unsustainable for Palantir Technologies (NASDAQ:PLTR) and Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA).

Burry compared the situation to the gold rushes of the 19th century, where boomtowns would spring up overnight but eventually become abandoned 'ghost towns' once the gold deposits were depleted. He believes that similar conditions are at play in today's market, particularly with these two stocks.

Palantir is currently filling acute CYA (cover your behind) needs, Burry said, while Nvidia's margins and prices are causing nosebleeds due to high demand for its products in the semiconductor industry. Caterpillar (NYSE:CAT), on the other hand, is doing well due to its role in AI infrastructure buildout.

Burry has taken short positions on several tech giants, including Nvidia and Tesla, as a hedge against potential downturns. He believes that the semiconductor boom is nearing its end, citing the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index's high extension above its 200-day moving average.
