Docusign, for instance, uses both frontier and open-weight models, reserving more powerful systems for complex reasoning tasks. The company has implemented a model-routing system to send different requests to the most cost-effective models available. This approach is also being adopted by other companies like Nice.

However, some firms continue to push the boundaries of AI development. Databricks made OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra available to its 3,500 developers for complex tasks, demonstrating the ongoing innovation in the field. The contrast between these approaches comes amidst growing concerns over AI safety and calls from industry leaders to slow frontier-model development.
