Canada's Responsible Data Centre Initiative Gains Momentum
The Canadian government has announced that 19 additional companies have signed up to its Responsible Data Centre Development Principles. The principles, first introduced in early September, aim to establish a national framework for responsible data centre development in Canada.
The signatories include major players like Nvidia, IBM, Lenovo, and Vantage, bringing the total number of adherents to 30 companies.
The Responsible Data Centre Development Principles set out five clear expectations: projects must create lasting local benefits, protect electricity ratepayers, minimize water use and environmental impacts, be transparent about local impacts, and bring strategic value to Canada.
