Caplyta's Mania Breakthrough Sends J&J Stock Up
Johnson & Johnson's stock gained approximately 0.8% on Monday to $272.34, following news that its drug Caplyta has hit its primary endpoint in a late-stage bipolar mania study.
The trial found that roughly 46% of patients taking the once-daily 42-milligram dose achieved a clinical response, compared with about 21% on placebo. Improvement emerged within three days and continued through the three-week study.
Caplyta already serves patients with schizophrenia and depressive episodes associated with bipolar disorder, so success in mania could push the drug deeper into the broader bipolar treatment cycle.
