Carson City Mourns Loss of WWII Survivor Johanna Teelen Sellers

Johanna 'Jony' Teelen Sellers lived an adventurous life that spanned over nine decades. Born on December 25, 1926, in Amsterdam, Holland, she was a teenager during World War II and later married Grover Winston Sellers at the American Express office in Amsterdam in 1951.

After moving to Carson City with her husband in 1989, Jony continued to be an active member of her community. She was a Campfire Girl Leader, Sunday school teacher, Stephen Minister, prayer shawl knitter, and avid bridge player who became a Silver Master.

Jony is survived by her two daughters, Pax Kelly and Lisbet Sherwood, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her legacy will be honored at a memorial service on September 12th at the First United Methodist Church in Carson City.
