Caterpillar has unveiled its new D11 XE electric drive dozer, designed to increase productivity and efficiency while reducing fuel consumption and operating costs.

The machine combines electric drive with longer component life and integrated automation to achieve up to 25 per cent less fuel consumed per unit of material moved and moves 5-10 per cent more material per hour than the next generation Cat D11.

The electric drivetrain has 60 per cent fewer moving parts than a mechanical drive system, simplifying service and lowering owning and operating costs over the machine's life. The 955-hp Cat C32B engine operates at a lower high-idle speed to help the D11 XE deliver up to 20 per cent longer life between rebuilds than the D11.
