Caterpillar A.I. Revolutionizes Construction Work Amidst Labor Shortages
Caterpillar's Digital Chief Ogi Redzic has been leading the charge in transforming traditional heavy-equipment manufacturing into a modern, service-driven enterprise. Since joining Caterpillar in 2018, Redzic has spearheaded the development of Helios, a central platform that manages connected machines worldwide.
With over 3,000 employees, Cat Digital is building digital tools behind Caterpillar's equipment. The team focuses on creating software to support customers and dealers, making it easier for them to operate, maintain, and service their equipment.
Redzic believes that autonomous tools will help bridge the gap in labor shortages without displacing existing jobs. He notes that humans won't be out of the loop anytime soon, as machines become increasingly intelligent and able to operate on simple commands.
