Caterpillar Bolsters Heavy Equipment Portfolio with Strategic Acquisitions
Caterpillar Inc. (CAT) is expanding its presence in the heavy equipment manufacturing industry through strategic acquisitions.
The company's latest move is an agreement to acquire John Fabick Tractor Company, a CAT dealer serving parts of Missouri, IL, the entire state of Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
The transaction is expected to close within 30 days, subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions.
This deal marks Caterpillar's direct presence in its dealer ecosystem and expands its customer base. Fabick has over a decade of customer relationships and provides CAT equipment, parts, and services across construction, agriculture, emergency power, and other markets.
Caterpillar has been focusing on acquiring capabilities that complement its core equipment portfolio while expanding its exposure to digitalization, automation, and services. The company acquired RPMGlobal in February 2026, strengthening its portfolio of data-driven mining technology and software solutions. In July, Caterpillar acquired Skycatch, a provider of spatial data capture, processing, and analysis solutions for mining.
