Caterpillar Crushes Expectations with Record Sales and Revenue
Caterpillar Inc., parent company to the well-known construction and mining equipment maker, has reported its second-quarter 2026 revenue numbers. The NYSE-listed company saw a significant increase in both earnings and sales.
The adjusted EPS of $8.17 beat expectations by $2.46, while sales and revenues of $20.5 billion topped the estimate by $2.14 billion. This represents a 24% revenue increase from the same quarter last year.
Caterpillar's order backlog reached a record $72.1 billion in the second quarter of 2026, fueled by robust demand for power generation and construction equipment. Chairman and CEO Joe Creed stated that 'This is the first time in company history that we have generated over $20 billion in sales and revenues in a single quarter.'
The company saw segment profit increases across all three primary segments: Power & Energy, Construction Industries, and Resource Industries. Power & Energy saw a 30% increase in segment profit, with growth primarily driven by higher sales of large reciprocating engines, turbines, and related services for data-center applications.
