Caterpillar Digs Deep into North Carolina with $1 Billion Investment
Caterpillar Inc., the global leader in construction and mining equipment, is making a massive investment in North Carolina. The company plans to invest approximately $1 billion in a new manufacturing facility in Sanford, designed to increase production of compact track loaders and telehandlers.
The facility will incorporate advanced manufacturing technologies, automation, digital production systems, and integrated logistics capabilities. Caterpillar selected North Carolina based on its existing presence in the state and local workforce.
Rod Shurman, president of Caterpillar Construction Industries Group, said demand for compact equipment continues to increase, and this investment is aimed at better serving customers in construction, landscaping, agriculture, and material handling applications.
