Caterpillar Inc., a leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, has announced plans to invest $1 billion in North Carolina. The investment aims to expand manufacturing capacity for compact track loaders and telehandlers, which are versatile machines used across various industries.

The new modern manufacturing facility will be located in Sanford, North Carolina, and is expected to create opportunities for advanced manufacturing careers. Caterpillar's Construction Industries Group President Rod Shurman said the investment is a way of solving customers' toughest challenges by expanding access to products, solutions, and services they need to work more efficiently.

The project will incorporate advanced manufacturing technologies, automation, digital production systems, and integrated logistics capabilities to create a more connected and efficient operation. North Carolina was chosen due to Caterpillar's longstanding presence in the state, the strength of the local workforce, and existing manufacturing expertise and operations in Sanford.
