Caterpillar Drops Billion-Dollar Hammer on NC Facility Expansion
Caterpillar Inc., the global heavy equipment manufacturer, is investing $1 billion in North Carolina to expand its compact equipment business. The investment will see the construction of a new manufacturing facility in Sanford, which will increase production capacity for compact track loaders and telehandlers.
The decision to invest in North Carolina was based on the state's existing presence, local workforce, and current manufacturing operations in Sanford. The company aims to meet growing customer demand for these machines, used in construction, landscaping, agriculture, and material handling applications.
Caterpillar President of Construction Industries Group Rod Shurman said, 'As demand for compact equipment continues to increase, we’re investing to better serve this growing segment of customers.'
