Caterpillar Expands Autonomous Truck Fleet at Virginia Quarries

Caterpillar is expanding its autonomous truck fleet at Luck Stone sites in Virginia. The company will deploy two fleets of Cat 775 rigid-frame dump trucks, each with a payload capacity of 71 tons, at the Boscobel and Bealeton quarries.

This marks the first time the 775s will be equipped with the MineStar Command autonomous system. Since deploying its first autonomous hauler in November 2024, Caterpillar has hauled over 3.5 million tons of material with positive results at Luck Stone's Bull Run Plant in Chantilly, Virginia.

Caterpillar is collaborating with FieldAI to advance physical artificial intelligence and autonomy on jobsites. The partnership aims to improve safety, increase productivity, and optimize operations through AI-powered machines.
