Caterpillar Invests $1 Billion in North Carolina Expansion
Caterpillar Inc., a Texas-based equipment giant, is planning to invest around $1 billion in North Carolina. The investment aims to expand manufacturing capacity for compact equipment amid rising customer demand.
The company will build a new manufacturing facility in Sanford, North Carolina, which will increase production of compact track loaders and telehandlers. This expansion is intended to meet growing demand across various industries such as construction, landscaping, agriculture, and material handling.
Caterpillar's Construction Industries Group President Rod Shurman stated that the company is increasing its investment due to rising customer demand for compact equipment. The new facility will support Caterpillar's U.S. manufacturing operations and create positions related to automation, robotics, digital manufacturing, and production systems.
