Caterpillar Joins Ranks of Corporate Sponsors in College Sports
Caterpillar is joining the growing list of corporate sponsors in college sports by partnering with the University of Illinois. As part of this multi-year agreement, the company's logos will be displayed on the 25-yard-lines of Zuppke Field.
The financial details of the deal were not disclosed, but it's worth noting that a similar agreement was reached between the university and Busey Bank. The bank's patches will appear on the Illinois Fighting Illini's jerseys for five seasons, generating $30 million in revenue over that period.
This trend of corporate sponsorship is becoming increasingly common in college sports. Other notable examples include Wisconsin's partnership with Culver's, Notre Dame's deal with SoFi, and Ohio State's agreement with JPMorganChase, which will generate around $17 million annually.
