Caterpillar Stock Rockets 6% on Crushing Earnings Beat
Caterpillar's stock surged by 6% after the company released its quarterly earnings and revenue figures. The results exceeded market expectations, demonstrating a significant increase in demand for heavy equipment.
The Construction Industries segment saw a remarkable growth of 35%, with North America experiencing an impressive 50% rise in revenue to $8.3 billion. Power & Energy, which produces generators and backup power gear, also grew by 17% to $8.2 billion, driven primarily by the demand for gensets and turbines used in data centers.
Caterpillar's CEO Joe Creed attributed this growth to nonresidential investment in infrastructure, heavy construction, and data centers. Additionally, the company achieved a record backlog of $72 billion, up from $63 billion in the previous quarter.
