Caterpillar Teams Up with FieldAI to Revolutionize Industrial Automation

Caterpillar Inc., a leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, has partnered with FieldAI to develop physical AI, autonomy, and robotics applications for industrial jobsites and manufacturing facilities. The collaboration combines Caterpillar's operational data and engineering capabilities with FieldAI's AI-enabled robot foundation models to operate across various environments.

The initial applications include autonomous inspections, digital twins providing real-time operational insights, enhanced situational awareness for risk identification, and operational optimization through simulation and automation. 'The future of our industries will be shaped by how effectively we combine human expertise with AI-powered machines,' said Jaime Mineart, Caterpillar's chief technology officer.

The partnership utilizes NVIDIA accelerated computing and NVIDIA Omniverse technologies to build digital twins from operational data. FieldAI's autonomy software operates across multiple robot types and tasks in unstructured environments.
