CEA and Alice & Bob Challenge Nvidia's Quantum Computing Dominance
The French government-funded research organization CEA is taking aim at Nvidia's dominance in quantum computing software. Alongside the startup Alice & Bob, they're working to integrate Alice & Bob's software stack into Bull's Qaptiva platform, which will allow for easier coordination of workloads across classical supercomputers and quantum processors.
The goal is to create an alternative to Nvidia's CUDA-Q framework, which has become the industry standard in AI hardware. CEA wants to avoid a situation where one vendor's software becomes the default orchestration layer for heterogeneous quantum-HPC infrastructure.
Alice & Bob will integrate its software with Qaptiva using CEA's experience in coupling quantum computers with HPC infrastructure. The company is developing fault-tolerant quantum computing systems based on 'cat qubits' and has already unveiled its first quantum system, Helium.
