CertifyOS Launches Provider Credentialing Model With Major Payers On Board
A new provider credentialing model is being launched by health tech company CertifyOS. The National Shared Credentialing Program aims to streamline the process for providers, who currently have to undergo around a dozen times per year.
UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, and Centene are among the initial participants in the program. It will eliminate duplicative submissions and establish a standardized process for credentialing across participating payers.
CertifyOS CEO Anshul Rathi said that between 1.4 million and 2 million providers will complete credentialing through their platform next year. The company estimates that the U.S. health system spends more than $2 billion per year on provider credentialling, and that this process could be reduced by 75% if unified.
Rathi said that the team expects the tool to support regulatory compliance as well as member experience by simplifying the credentialing process.
