Bob Chapek, the former CEO of The Walt Disney Co., is writing a memoir about his tumultuous tenure at the company. Behind the Castle Walls: My Thirty Years at the Happiest Place on Earth will be published by Simon & Schuster's Gallery Books imprint on Sept. 29.

The book covers Chapek's entire career at Disney, from his hiring as a marketing director in 1993 to his appointment as CEO just before the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the most interesting part of the book is likely to be his account of his time as CEO, which ended with his ousting and the return of Bob Iger.

According to Gallery Books' synopsis, Chapek breaks his silence on his tenure as Disney's CEO, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the challenges he faced. This includes navigating the company through unprecedented times, including pandemic-related shutdowns and the backlash that followed.

The book promises to be a revealing and thrilling memoir of ambition, power, and corporate intrigue in the happiest company on earth. Chapek's appointment as CEO was seen by his peers as something of a coronation, but it didn't last long.
