Chapek Touts Role in Raising Next-Generation Disney Leader

Former Disney CEO Bob Chapek is taking credit for promoting current chief executive Josh D'Amaro, according to excerpts from his upcoming book. In the book, obtained by The New York Times, Chapek describes D'Amaro as 'the tip of my spear' in his efforts to drive change within the company.

Chapek claims that he personally identified and promoted D'Amaro, who previously worked under him in Disney's theme parks division. He writes that D'Amaro was a 'relative unknown' before he singled him out for advancement.

A spokesman for D'Amaro declined to comment on Chapek's characterization, with Disney itself also remaining silent on the matter.
