America's banking landscape is incredibly diverse, with giant companies like JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo operating alongside smaller regional banks.

According to FinanceBuzz's research team, which analyzed branch location and population data across all 50 states and the District of Columbia, JPMorgan Chase (operating as Chase Bank) is the most common bank in 8 states, with nearly 5,000 branches across the country.

The picture looks very different state by state. While Wells Fargo is the most common bank in 7 states plus Washington D.C., and PNC Bank takes top spot in Delaware, other regional banks shine in their home regions. For example, Regions Bank is the most popular in Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Arkansas.

The research found that six banking corporations have at least 1,500 branches across American states: JPMorgan Chase (4,993), Wells Fargo (4,214), Bank of America (3,640), PNC Bank, U.S. Bank, and Truist Bank.
