Chevron and Egypt Collaborate to Speed Up Mediterranean Gas Project
Egypt's Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, held a videoconference meeting with Javier La Rosa, President of Chevron's Base Assets and Emerging Countries, to discuss accelerating the Mediterranean gas project.
The project aims to connect the Aphrodite field off the coast of Cyprus to Egypt's infrastructure. The field was discovered in 2011 and has an estimated 98 billion cubic meters of contingent resource, with potential for an additional 26 bcm of prospective resources.
Badawi emphasized the importance of accelerating the completion of procedures and agreements to link the Aphrodite field to Egypt's infrastructure. He also highlighted the high-level political support for cooperation between Egypt and Cyprus in the natural gas domain.
