Chevron and SK Enmove Supply Base Oils to HF Sinclair Ahead of Mississauga Refinery Retirement
Chevron Products Company and SK Enmove have reached long-term commercial agreements with HF Sinclair's Lubricants & Specialties segment to supply base oils. Chevron will provide Group II base oils, while SK Enmove will supply Group III base oils. This arrangement comes as part of HF Sinclair's plan to retire its Mississauga base-oil refining assets.
Under the agreement, HF Sinclair will distribute Chevron-branded Group II base oils in Canada and selected U.S. regions. They will also serve as SK Enmove's distributor for YUBASE Group III base oils in key North American regional markets.
The planned retirement of Mississauga's base-oil refining assets is expected to be completed by the second half of 2027, while Chevron's distribution agreement with HF Sinclair takes effect on May 1, 2027. This timing ensures that the replacement supply and distribution network is in place ahead of or alongside the refinery retirement.
The agreements mark a significant change in HF Sinclair's position in the North American base oil market. Rather than refining Group II and III base oils in Canada, they will rely more heavily on products manufactured by outside suppliers while retaining key parts of their downstream operations.
